Each meeting of the Seattle Weavers' Guild features a segment called "Hot Off the Loom". During this time members display and explain work they have recently done. Since our Guild has been unable to meet, members are sharing their work through social media--Facebook, and Instagram.

Jennifer Shuster contributed this timely experiment and explains: "I am member of the evening Structures Study Group and our structure of focus for the months of May and July 2020 was Diversified Plain Weave. I've been fascinated recently with weaving words and doing so in different structures. I used 10/2 cotton as my thick yarn and 50 wt sewing thread as my thin and sett the warp at 60 EPI. I wanted to experiment with how the color in the thin warp affected the overall look of the piece so there are 4 different colors of sewing thread in the warp. The entire piece, which is 3614 picks long, includes the following words: 2020, COVID-19, Fear, Pandemic, 6-Feet Apart, Recession, Virus, Antibodies, PPE, Self-Quarantine, Vaccine, Face Mask, Flatten the Curve. It was woven on a 40S AVL K-Series. ."
