Blended Drafts

Are you stuck planning your next project? Can't decide between two favorite structures? No problem! Use them both! Two four-shaft drafts can (usually) be blended on eight shafts, two six-shaft drafts on twelve shafts, etc.

Join this zoom workshop for step-by-step guidance to blend those two drafts plus tabby into one exciting and beautiful project!

Registrants will receive a Zoom link one week before the mini-workshop.

Registrants will also receive worksheets by email which they will need to print out.  Also needed: a couple of sharp pencils, a good eraser and graph paper if you have it.  If you have weaving software, you will want to have your computer handy.

Learn the Basics of Project Record Keeping and Planning the Warp & Weft for Your Next Project

Have you ever thought, ‘Gee, I should probably keep some weaving notes, but where do I start?’ or ‘How much fiber do I need for this project?’ Then this mini-workshop is for you.

Whether you weave on a Rigid Heddle, Shaft Loom, Band Loom or something else, this workshop walks you through two helpful worksheets that you can use.

PROJECT RECORD SHEET is a fill in the blank form so you can record the specific details of your project— warp and weft, what loom, heddle/reed size, EPI, PPI, finishing, the sizes on the loom and the final sizes so you can know shrinkage/take-up. Knowing all this info helps you to repeat your project, increase/decrease the finished size accordingly and plan your next project without unforeseen surprises.

The WARP & WEFT WORKSHEET will help you figure out how much warp and weft you’ll need. Whether you use this paper form or one of many online forms – this workshop will help clarify the info required, so you can be a whiz at project planning. We will also discuss, the reverse planning, I have xyz yarns, how much can I weave.

Yes, there’s a bit of math, but nothing you can’t handle with a calculator, a measuring tape and a deep breath.
